Via Gladiola

The last day of the Nijmeegse Vierdaagse was successful as well. We walked at a moderate slow pace, because we wanted to experience the the thousands of spectators on the last ten kilometers. We always dress in traditional Malay costume for the last day, and that is what we did this year again.

It Is always great fun on the last day of the four day marches when many of the walkers dress up, some in funny dresses and some - like us - in a serious way.

On the Via Gladiola - the last long street in the Four Day Marches - the spectators give Gladiolas to the walkers as a reward for what they accomplished, and we got quite a few of them as well.

We really enjoyed the last day!

Traditionally we have been handing out whistles to the kids along the track on all four days. That is also great fun, this year we handed out a total of more than 1,500 of them! The reactions from the kids and parents are always great and this all helps us to cover the 50 km with some distractions too, making it easier.

Since this was our tenth Four Day Marches we we honored with a special medal.
