We will be walking our tenth four-day marches this year, the Nijmeegse Vierdaagse. The preparations are in full swing, we want to be well prepared and this requires a lot of long distance walks. The actual marches are in July so there is some time to go before we have to be ready. The four days are each 50 kilometers (31 miles). With the Ramadan starting on May 26 and ending on June 24, we will have to slow down a bit in that period, meaning that we have to be ready for 45 kilometers (28 miles) by May 26. Then in the time between the end of the Ramadan and the start of the Vierdaagse we will walk our famous "eleven villages" route, our 50+ km training.
For today we plan to walk "only" 20+ km (12.5+ miles) where the route I have transferred to the GPS is about 23 km (14 miles). We will see where we end up, I will add the real route once we are back home again.
For now it is a matter of getting ready and do the walk for this weekend.
